Bottle Shock

A wine tasting term used to describe off-aromas and a lack of fruit sometime detected just after a wine is bottled. Possible causes include oxygen added to the wine during bottling and the use of sulfur dioxide (SO2) during bottling. Bottle shock typically disappears after a few weeks.
