Fruity

A WineEnabler.com’s Wine 101 style term for the light bodied red wines. Most Fruity wines are Pinot Noirs from the New World (particularly California). These are very fruit driven wines, often described as fruit forward. Fruity wines come from warm weather climates that produce grapes with relatively high levels of sugar and low levels of acid and tannins. The sugar is converted to alcohol, giving Fruity wines elevated alcohol levels, 14% or more.
